How to Care For and Use Your Refillable Wood Wick Candles
Like most good things in life, candles need a little TLC. Follow these tips to keep them glowing beautifully every single time.
1. Give That Wick a Trim! ✂️
Before lighting your candle, ensure the wooden wick is trimmed to about 1/8 of an inch. Why? A longer wick can cause excessive flame or smoke. A quick trim keeps everything flickering smoothly!
2. Avoid Overburning ⏰
Don’t burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. After 4 hours of cozy ambiance, extinguish the flame, allow the candle to cool for at least 2 hours, then trim the wick before lighting it up again. This preserves the quality of the candle and avoids pesky soot.
3. Love Your Candle’s Home 🕯️
Keep the candle in a well-ventilated room, but far from drafts (looking at you, ceiling fan!). Drafts can cause uneven burning. And when you’re not burning it, store the candle in a cool, dark, and dry place to protect the wax and fragrance from sunlight or harsh indoor lighting.
4. Clean it Up! ✨
Spotted a smudge or dust on your trusty candle jar? A soft cloth or even a piece of nylon can work wonders.
5. Keep the Lid Close 🛡️
After the candle has fully cooled, pop the lid back on. This keeps dust off your wax and wick, ensuring it’s always fresh and ready. 💡 Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always extinguish the flame before leaving the room.
Safety Tips
🔥 Keep the candle away from flammable items or surfaces and out of reach of little hands or paws. Trust us, glass jars and curious pets aren’t a good mix!
🚫 Only burn the candle down until there's ¼ inch of wax left in the jar. Burning it beyond this point can cause the glass to overheat and shatter. Yikes!
